Region D would like
to announce that Nansea Arquette from the Foothills NASW Unit is 2006 Social Worker of the
Year for Region D. This area covers: Central Valley: Chico, Kern, Fresno, Merced,
Sacramento, San Joaquin, Stanislaus and the Sierra Foothills: Alpine, Amador, Calaveras,
Mariposa, and Tuolumne.
Nansea is a Licensed Social Worker and Thanatologist, a professional counselor, speaker,
trainer and consultant with more than 20 years of service in Hospice care.
She is founder of Dawn's Light, A Center for Children and Adults in Grief in Sonora,
Ca., which offers a safe and caring place where grief is a natural transition of life.
Prior to this venture, Nansea worked at Hospice of the Sierra for 10 years - 5 years as a
Medical Social Worker and 5 years as the Bereavement/Volunteer Coordinator. Before
that, she was the Director of Social Services for Hospice of Humboldt. Nansea was
the first Social Worker in the Northern California Region while in that position.
She has presented classes on death, dying and bereavement in hospitals, hospices,
churches, correctional institutions, mental health facilities and social service agencies.
